Herb-of-grace

Herb-of-grace is a hardy, drought-tolerant evergreen shrub that thrives in full sun and well-drained, slightly alkaline soil. Water moderately once established and avoid waterlogging, as rue dislikes soggy roots. Trim lightly after flowering to keep the blue-green foliage compact and bushy, and wear gloves when handling, since the sap can irritate sensitive skin in bright sunlight.

Ruta graveolens has long been valued in traditional Indian and European herbal practice for its aromatic, bitter foliage. Its strong scent makes it a popular companion plant that many gardeners use to deter cats, aphids and certain pests around vegetable beds. The distinctive blue-green leaves and small yellow flowers also add texture and colour to ornamental and medicinal herb gardens.

Rue performs best in a sunny spot with at least six hours of direct light, whether in a border, rockery or on a bright balcony. Grown in this 5-inch pot, it suits patios, terraces and windowsills where its rounded, silvery form can be appreciated up close. Keep it away from edible herbs you harvest heavily and from children's play areas, as the foliage is best admired rather than eaten.

GardenGo sources Herb-of-grace plants locally and delivers them fast, often within about two hours in serviced areas, so your rue arrives alive and settled rather than stressed after days in transit. Each plant comes established in a 5-inch pot, ready to place straight onto your patio or into a border. You can also add pots, well-drained potting soil and tools to the same order, getting everything for your herb garden in one convenient delivery.
