Why these three

Citronella and lemongrass both carry the oil that goes into mosquito coils, and kapoor tulsi adds a camphor note. Crushing a leaf between your fingers releases far more of it than the plant does on its own — sit close and brush past them.

Where to keep them

The balcony or door you actually use in the evening, in sun for at least half the day.

Looking after them

Water every second day in summer and cut back any browning leaves; all three regrow quickly.
